Leading While Black: 50 Years of Transformational Black Leadership at Tufts University
The past 50 years of our university’s history provide us with inspiration for our shared future. Leading While Black illuminates the long-standing presence and contributions of Black university leaders at Tufts to governance, institutional decision-making, community leadership, and the “good trouble” of disrupting norms.
This year, we honor eight leaders who served Tufts over the past half century. We reflect on how they worked to promote the initiative, research excellence, and creativity of the entire university, and we project what their leadership means for the future of Tufts University.
View the video of the inaugural livestreaming event that explored the contributions of these influential Black leaders at Tufts as we reckon with two central questions: What has Black leadership meant for our university over the past half-century? And how do we as members of the Tufts community expand the horizons of executive leadership?
