Leading While Black: 50 Years of Transformational Black Leadership at Tufts University

The past 50 years of our university’s history provide us with inspiration for our shared future. Leading While Black illuminates the long-standing presence and contributions of Black university leaders at Tufts to governance, institutional decision-making, community leadership, and the “good trouble” of disrupting norms.

This year, we honor eight leaders who served Tufts over the past half century. We reflect on how they worked to promote the initiative, research excellence, and creativity of the entire university, and we project what their leadership means for the future of Tufts University.
